$WALLET, $xWALLET and $stkWALLET are three tokens that serve different purposes in the Ambire ecosystem.
$WALLET is the main token, which can be used to pay your gas fees in Ambire Wallet, available on exchanges, eligible for creating governance proposal, governance voting, and more.
$xWALLET was the original staking token for the underlying $WALLET token. It was replaced by $stkWALLET, for a cleaner representation of the staked amount and rewards.
Important note: When you unstake your $stkWALLET tokens, they will be swapped to $xWALLET for the duration of the 30 days leave period. During this period it is important to not transfer, or change the amount of the xWALLET in any way, as this will prevent you from finalizing the withdrawal of the WALLET tokens once the leave period is over.
Why the ratio floats (and is currently ~1:21) and it was replaced by $stkWALLET?
xWALLET uses a pool-share model — similar to how LP tokens work in DeFi.
In the past, when you staked WALLET, you received xWALLET representing your share of the staking pool.
As staking rewards accumulate in the pool over time, the pool grows larger in WALLET terms.
Since the total supply of xWALLET doesn't increase proportionally (it only changes when people stake/unstake), each xWALLET token becomes worth more WALLET as rewards compound.
This means the ratio drifts over time — currently sitting at roughly 1 xWALLET ≈ 21 WALLET, reflecting years of accumulated rewards.
Over the time, that floating ratio proves to be an extremely confusing and that's why a governance vote proposed a much more user-friendly wrapper on top of $xWALLET.
Now, when stakes $WALLET, users receives an equivalent amount of dynamically rebalansing $stkWALLET, and can track the received rewards way more easily.
$xWALLET still have a purpose - when you unstake your $stkWALLET tokens, they are turned to $xWALLET for the duration of the 30 day leave period. Once this period is over, you can finalize the unstaking and receive your $WALLET tokens. It is important to not change the balance of your $xWALLET tokens during the leave period, as this will prevent the withdrawal of the $WALLET tokens when the leave period ends.
How $xWALLET differs from $stkWALLET
| $xWALLET | $stkWALLET |
Ratio to $WALLET | Floating (~1:21) | Always 1:1 |
Governance power | No | 2x over the $WALLET governance power |
