There are multiple ways in which you can sign up for the Ambire Wallet - through email, Metamask, Trezor or Ledger. If you have signed up by using your email address you have the option to change your password. Please, regularly change your password and remember to never provide it to third parties. Keep in mind that the Ambire team will never ask you for your password to resolve issues you might experience or assist you with anything!
Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can change your password. Please keep in mind that there are different procedures for changing a password, when you remember the old one and recovering your password, when you have forgotten it.
Changing an existing password, which you remember:
Step 1: Go to the Security tab in the left side menu.
Step 2: Under Authorized signers, find the one with your email address and click on Change password.
Step 3: Select the option of changing the password both for the specific device and Ambire Cloud and click on the Confirmation button. More information on what Ambire Cloud is can be found in this article.
Step 4: Type in your old password, as well as the new one in the required fields
Step 5: Mark the mandatory checkbox in the field, which informs you how the sign-in would work after you change your password.
Step 6: Click on the Confirmation button
That's it! Now you password is updated. Please make sure that you log out of your profile and login again so that you can continue using Ambire Wallet with your new password.
Recovering a forgotten password:
Step 1: Go to the Security tab in the left side menu.
Step 2: Under Authorized signers, find the one with your email address and click on Change password.
Step 3: Choose the option "Reset the key and password"
Step 4: Fill in your new password and confirm it. Tick the mandatory boxes below the password fields, informing you that the password that you are changing will only be applicable to the network, which you currently have selected. Also it is important to not that this recovery process takes 3 days.
Step 5: Click on "Confirm"
Step 6: Sign the transaction - you will be asked to select the transaction speed and confirm the transaction by entering the authorization code you have received on your e-mail or via OTP code on your Authenticator app.
Once the 3 day period is over and the password is reset - you need to log out from your account and log in again, in order to be logged with new password-encrypted key (with your new password).
