Ambire Ice – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Find answers to the most common questions about Ambire Ice, including supported wallets, pre-orders, shipping, payments, and privacy.

Compatibility and functionality

Q: Which wallets and account types does Ambire Ice support?

A: At launch, Ambire Ice will function as a hardware signing device for Safe accounts imported into Ambire Wallet.

Support for additional account types and wallet configurations is planned for future updates.

Q: How can I used it with Safe account?

A: Ambire Ice can be used as a hardware signer for your Safe account, supporting three connection methods: USB, Bluetooth (for mobile devices), and QR codes (for air-gapped mode).

You can choose whichever method best suits your device needs and security preferences.

Q: Does Ambire Ice support air-gapped mode?

A: Yes! Ambire Ice supports a fully air-gapped mode, allowing you to sign transactions without a physical or wireless data connection.

With a simple flip of a switch, the device physically disconnects USB data lines and cuts power to the Bluetooth module. This isolation is enforced at the hardware level, not through software settings.

When air-gapped mode is enabled, transactions can only be signed using QR codes, with information exchanged via QR codes in both directions.

Q: Does Ambire Ice require a battery?

A: A battery pack is required when using Ambire Ice in air-gapped mode, where transactions are signed using QR codes.

When air-gapped mode is disabled, Ambire Ice can be powered directly through its USB-C connection, without requiring a battery. For Bluetooth connection you can use both battery pack or external source of power, via USB-C connection.
